MENTAL HEALTH: REJECTION AND SELF-LOVE

Mental health is as much important as physical health, your beauty, your appearance, your intelligence, and your social life.

Mental health is something that is least talked about in India.  Teachers, parents are least concerned about the mental health of their children.  They fail to talk about it with their child.

It is well-known fact that teachers, parents, and Guardians do not have formal education on mental health problems. For them, mental health comes under only two categories being normal or being mental.

HOW DOES MENTAL HEALTH IMPACT ONE'S LIFE?

 REJECTIONS AND IMPORTANCE OF SELF-LOVE

I would like to share a story before I talk further. There was a boy, name him anyone. He was a normal boy. He was quite slow. He was slow in the study. He was slow in speaking. He was slow in expressing himself.

He always remained out of the league of his fellow students.  Of his friends, most of them ignored him because he was slow.

This rejection really become complex as he grew up.  Although he could manage to become a graduate his mental health worsened with years passing by.

He fails to gain respect in society, he fails to earn money,  he fails to learn self-worthiness, he fails to love himself.

These things become complicated when he got married, because his wife too, fails to take care of his mental health. He indulged in alcoholism and lost whatever self-esteem he could have maintained till this age, and one day he killed himself.

He attempted suicide once, but society has made him die for 35 years of his life.

He was rejected by his classmates. He was rejected by his friends. His teachers never paid attention to his mental health. His parents were never too educated to talk about his mental health. His parents never looked after his mental health. They never talked beyond the boundaries that could improve his mental health.

He must have been survived if 3-4 people around him could have talked to him about mental health. If they could have made him love himself. If they could have accepted him in their League, and even if they knew what repercussions their rejection will have on that person.

It's true that we cannot force anyone to love us, but it's also true that our actions may play a role in the mental illness of a person.

LEARN TO BE REJECTED

We are not acceptable to society as a whole. We have to learn about rejection.  We have to learn about rejecting the rejection. Nobody is worth rejecting us. We are here to live our life.  We must learn to love ourselves. We must have self-esteem. We must have self-worth.

ROLE OF SOCIETY IN MENTAL HEALTH OF A PERSON

Moreover, as a society, our teachers must have basic knowledge about mental health.  It's not always about getting good grades in classes. It's not always about bright students.  An ignored lonely child is also, and must also be your priority. With education take care of the mental health of your student also.

Parents and guardians should also learn about mental health. They have to cross the barrier and they must know the importance of the Mental Health of their child. It’s your responsibility to make your children learn to love themselves. Make the child learn to accept the rejection. Make the child learn self-worthiness. Make them learn the importance of life. Make them mentally strong so that they never fail to love themselves.
